My First Phonics Book

My First Phonics Book is an exciting new way to introduce phonics to young readers - helping them first to understand that all words are made up of sounds and then to recognize the symbols that represent these sounds. Created in conjunction with phonics expert Sue Palmer this book is ideal for developing basic literacy as recommended by the National Literacy Strategy. My First Phonics Book is organized in a simple easy-to-locate alphabetical order of sounds. One page is devoted to each of the 42 sounds that make up the English Language. Each sound page includes a carefully devised selection of colourful pictures all with word labels that featured colour-coded sound patterns. In this way children can instantly recognize the various spelling patterns that compose each sound. In addition many pages features Radio Joe - the animated radio - who delivers a lively and humorous catalogue of songs adverts weather reports news flashes and other items that support the sounds and encourage reader interaction.
