Description
The country is at war. Beset by enemies within and without. And all because of the decisions changed by one boy - Scott Tyler. In this ravaged alternative world, Scott hardly recognises himself. He's a war hero, a leader of a unit of Shifters and maybe the only one who can prevent the country's frail defences from crumbling. But all Scott wants to do is find a way back to the reality he knew - without losing the girl he loves. With every Shift he makes, Scott edges closer towards oblivion. With no one to trust - not even himself - how much is he willing to risk to get home?
Reviews / Votes
"Control is an enjoyable novel with keenly thought-out themes and motifs, and ones that will resonate strongly with scene-gays - we just wanna see what the shock ending will bring about in the next book." - So, So Gay "The ending. Woah. Big big thing. Can/t wait for the next one-it promises to be even more epic than these two." - Death, Books and Tea "Curran's prose crackles with energy, and this book stays attention-grabbing and eminently readable, age-appropriate for all audiences." - British Fantasy Society "I really, really, really enjoyed this book! The first book in the Shift series was incredibly captivating and Control just furthered this for me. It was full of action, tension, emotions and I was immediately sucked into the story." - Uncorked Thoughts "I love Kim Curran's style of writing. It's so easy and fun to read while also having a disturbing, dark edge - I enjoyed Control a great deal and having been utterly shocked by its ending I cannot wait for the trilogy's finale, Delete." - For Winter Nights "This is a book that will stay with you for a while after reading it as you ponder the possibilities. Oh, and what an ending! Now I can't wait to read the next book, Delete. Bring it on!" - Badass Book Reviews "I haven't enjoyed a book this much in months. I give this my highest recommendation - coming out in August, this is definitely one to be added to your Autumn TBR list!" - Rebel Reading "Curran leaves us with a setup for the next book that left me reeling and promises that the final book in the series, Delete, will be explosive. And I for one can't wait to see the fall-out from that blast." - The Fantastical Librarian "Control surpasses its predecessor in many ways - the writing is better, the characters feel more real and fleshed out, the world has expanded way beyond the tiny little box it was originally contained in, and the magic system has been adapted by nefarious people for selfish purposes. But most importantly, Control is fun to read and hard to put down." - Fantasy Book Review "It's a really entertaining novel that has a lot of depth under the surface. The story is fast-paced and entertaining with satisfyingly high levels of suspense. Combined with great writing by Curran that makes for a novel I have no hesitation in recommending." - Weirdmage's Reviews "I enjoyed Shift but Control is even better. The second as well as the first part of this YA series is thrilling, fast-paced and features some unexpected twists and turns. I liked the different characters, most are realistic and likeable and some are so evil, cruel and manipulative - great. And then there is the perfectly realistic woven fabric of Scot Tyler's life: his dreadful family situation, the friendship/love with Audrey, his friends and his struggle to make his own decisions and finally stand by them." - ReaderAlexMore details

Kim was born in Dublin and moved to London when she was seven. She got her first typewriter when she was eight, had a poem she wrote about a snail published in a magazine when she was nine, and that was it - Kim was hooked on writing. Because she never thought she'd actually be able to make a living as a writer, she decided she needed a trade to fall back on. So, naturally, she went to Sussex University to study philosophy. While Kim's plan of being paid big bucks to think deep thoughts never quite worked out, she did land a job as a junior copywriter with an ad agency a week after graduating. She's worked in advertising ever since, specialising in writing for videogames.
