Description
Prepare for your next romantasy obsession! Inspired by Celtic mythology, Like the Moon We Rise is the first in a heart-pounding trilogy by debut Annabelle Cormack. Perfect for fans of Belladonna and Red Queen with the occult tones of One Dark Window.
The deadliest poisons are the sweetest . . .
Auriel has spent her life indentured to a cruel hag, working as a poison maiden to do her bidding. Her sole relief is a friendship with a dashing supplier, storyteller Faolan. But then Faolan betrays her, delivering her to haughty Prince Ambrose before she can earn her freedom.
Ambrose has a proposition: if Auriel pretends to be the prophesied all-powerful Khelani and helps him liberate their people from the Empire's control, he'll finally let her go. But Auriel is a poisoner and a witch, not a legendary warrior - and the prophecy is a fairy tale . . . isn't it?
If the war is to be won, bargains must be struck, motives hidden, friends broken and remade as lovers - meanwhile, unburied truths will shake the world to its core. Soon, Auriel is fighting not for her freedom, or her heart, but for her life.

Person
Annabelle Cormack has been writing about cheerfully amoral witches and inconvenient prophecies since she was old enough to pick up a pen. She holds an MA in Writing for Young People from Bath Spa University and writes poetry for several magazines. Half-Scottish but raised in rural France, she draws her inspiration from Celtic mythology and the everyday magic found in nature. She is currently settled in Bath, where she served as the Bard of Bath 2022-23, promoting creativity around the city. Annabelle has tried her hand at various careers from translation to tour guiding, but is still secretly waiting for the day she gets summoned on a perilous quest.
