The potter's custom of marking his work enables the collector to identify the age, shape and pattern, and sometimes the artist, retailer and importer, of any given piece. This guide contains every known mark ever used by Spode, Copeland, and Copeland and Garrett, in a single volume. It contains over 300 marks and is heavily illustrated. The author of this book, Robert Copeland, is the great great grandson of William Copeland, Josiah Spode's original partner.
