Description
New patterns of Point Ground lace are provided here with diagrams fully colour-coded and each pattern produced in simple diagrammatic form. Each pattern is presented with the relevant pricking, a full-size photograph of the completed piece of lace and a working diagram. The book progresses from the use of 13 pairs of bobbins through to 69 pairs. A feature of the book is the adaptation of traditional Point Ground lace patterns to widen the practical application of this lace form, so that modern lace makers can include corners, circles, ovals, collars, cuffs and motifs in their repertoire. Lace makers, from beginner through to the most experienced, will not only find that the colour coded patterns are easy to follow, but will also appreciate the practical extensions of the patterns to facilitate the creation of lace for twentieth century use. Having worked the patterns in this book, lace makers will then be able to make the natural progression to the complementary book, "100 Traditional Bobbin Lace Patterns". The author is a lace maker, teacher, lecturer and designer whose work is frequently exhibited throughout Britain and Europe.
She was a prizewinner at the "Concours International de Dentelles Miniatures" in Belgium in 1981 and was co-author of three previous books on lace making.
