Context, Intent and Variation in Grammaticalization

This volume collects papers at the intersection of grammaticalization theory and variationist linguistics, which are connected through phenomena like competition between variant constructions, competition between functions within a construction, stylistic specialization, language contact, or analogical support. Special attention goes to the balance between extra- and intra-linguistic variables and to methodological integration of both approaches.
