Applied Linguistics

Though Applied Linguistics is a relatively young academic field, the scope of its research questions, the variety of its methodologies, and its relevance to other fields of inquiry (in the sciences and humanities) have grown swiftly and make efforts to encapsulate the field both challenging and important.

The proposed Critical Concepts set on Applied Linguistics will highlight the major achievements in this multi- and inter-disciplinary field, focusing on the findings, theoretical explanations, and methodologies which have shaped the field and their relevance to related fields of inquiry such as linguistics, psychology and cognitive science, sociology, and education.
