Description
This is a guide to adapting and designing knitwear. The author gives advice on choosing yarn and stitch and offers three basic patterns with many choices of neck, sleeve and length, in a range of sizes for men, women and children. Thirteen garments have been knitted to illustrate some of the possibilities, and several different ways of tackling both the design and the writing of patterns are suggested. The instructions are complemented by charts and diagrams and the book includes a dictionary comprising thirty-four stitch patterns. Jo Compton trained in fashion design at St Martin's School of Art, London and has designed patterns for the "Sunday Telegraph".
