Description
May is abruptly orphaned during wartime when the factory her father works at explodes, claiming many of the residential houses around it. She has no choice but to leave the urban streets of her childhood and move to the country to live with her strict church-going aunt, Celia. May struggles to fit in. not least because Aunt Celia never approved of Emma's mum with her numerous silly superstitions. Despite her aunt banning them, May continues to practice the superstitions her mum drummed into her. Until the one time she doesn't, a defiance she immediately comes to regret as something dark arises and proceeds to invade her life...
