Description
The above mentioned conference represented the first joint conference of two major societies in the calcium field - International Conferences on Calcium Regulating Hormones and the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research. It was the largest meeting, national or international, on calcium regulation and bone metabolism ever held. The conference was comprised of four Workshops, eight plenary and 16 oral sessions, special lectures by Profs. D. Harold Copp and Roger Y. Tsien, and a variety of satellite events organized by calcium, bone and vitamin D special-interest groups. Approximately 1200 state-of-the-art papers were communicated in six poster sessions. (The full program, including abstracts, has been published as Volume 4, Supplement 1 of the Journal of Bone and Mineral Research, 1989). This book contains the written record of more than 75 Conference presentations. They were especially selected by the Scientific Programs Committees for their scientific content and topicality.
