Police officers are liable for illegal actions like everyone else and there are an increasing number of complaints suing for damages. Claims can cover a wide range of misconduct - from blatant misuse of power such as physical injuries, false imprisonment or fabricating evidence, to improperly stopping someone in the street or refusing to hand over property.
