"English Compass A1" ist der erste Band der dreibändigen Lehrwerksreihe "English Compass" und vermittelt das sprachliche Können der Niveaustufe A1. Flexibilität, Sicherheit und Handlungsorientierung sind dabei die Koordinaten für den idealen Lernerfolg.

English Compass A1 enthält:

• Lehr- und Arbeitsbuch mit 12 abwechslungsreichen, flexiblen Units, d.h. Unterrichtsmaterial für 48-60 Unterrichtseinheiten zu je 45 Minuten
• Beiheft "Out and About" mit Tasks zur Anwendung des sprachlichen Könnens in lebensnahen Situationen außerhalb des Unterrichts
• 2 Audio Learner Audio CD/CD-ROMs mit den Hörtexten der Arbeitsbuchteile und einem Audio-Trainer zum Wiederholen und Nachholen des Unterrichtsstoffs
• English Compass Online mit vertiefenden, interaktiven Übungen und zusätzlichem Unterrichtsmaterial
• 6 Testeinheiten nach den Prüfungsformaten von telc A1

The Compass course book not only contains the complete classroom material, but also a built-in workbook in the form of Your turn homestudy, keys, vocabulary sections, a grammar reference and the Your turn audioscripts.

A clear presentation of where you are in the book is given at the top of each page. Instructions are given in English in the units but in the Your turn homestudy section, instructions are given in German because learners are working alone.

The handy Out and About booklet allows learners to continue practising their English outside the classroom. The topic of each unit is developed in Out and About and learners are given related cultural information, Internet links, out-of-the-classroom tasks and tips how to improve their learning.

Two CDs come with the book. When the CDs are played on a CD player, the learner can access the listening exercises on the Your turn pages.
CD 2 is a combined CD/CD-ROM and serves a dual purpose: When it is played on a computer, students can also access the Recap material for all units. Here students are talked through the main parts of the unit and can orally practise the structures and functions from the previous unit.
