Extraction!

A classic work of radical comics journalism, 'EXTRACTION! Comix Reportage' teamed up award winning journalists and artists to produce an anthology of comics about the criminal activities of mining companies. Dispatches come from Guatemala, India, and indigenous communities in Canada.

EXTRACTION! includes: Four stand-alone works of comics journalism, documenting the activities of Goldcorp in Guatemala (Gold), Cameco in the Northwest Territories (Uranium), Alcan in India (Aluminum/Bauxite), and Suncor and other investors in the Canadian Athabasca Tar Sands (Oil);
Work from award-winning journalists: Dawn Paley ('Drug War Capitalism'), Tamara Herman ('We Call Them Intruders'), Sophie Toupin and Petr Cizek;
Comics and illustrations from award-winning artists: Jeff Lemire, Phil Angers, Joe Ollmann, Alain Reno, Carlos Santos, Ruth Tait, and Stanley Wany; and first-hand accounts of the impact these industries are having on local communities and their ecosystems.
