Roy Chester was the Proudman Professor of Oceanography at the University of Liverpool until his retirement in 2001. He is the author of more than a hundred scientific papers and has also served as a lay member of the Mental Health Review Tribunal for over 25 years. His first novel, The Toy Breaker, was published by Robert Hale in 2008.
