Description
Describes the process beginner students and professionals should follow in creating CAD technical drawings using AutoCAD Release 13 from Autodesk. The text explains how to perform two basic tasks using mechanical engineering drawings, for example creating a model drawing, and then editing it. Once users learn how to create and edit a drawing, they then study techniques in manipulating it. Chapter 4 discusses the use of blocks and external references in managing data in a drawing, and across several drawings. Students are guided through the process of preparing a document for plotting, adding annotations and dimensions to a drawing, and working in 3D space to create a wireframe model and a set of 3D polygonal meshes. Included is a summary of all AutoCAD R13 commands covered in the text. The book builds on the basic and intermediate-level AutoCAD skills taught in Cheng, "Mastering AutoCAD R13" (PWS, 1998); it also requires that students and users have access to the Mechanical Desktop suite of solid modelling and parametric modelling tools that run on top of AutoCAD R13.
