Description
Chewing gum are the solid, single-dose preparation that have to be chewed and not swallowed .It is intended to be chewed for a certain period of time by releasing the drug which dissolves or disperse in the saliva without the need of drinking water . Moreover some of the drug which is soluble in saliva is absorbed from the mouth, pharynx and esophagus as the saliva passes down into stomach, which enhances bioavailability by avoiding first pass metabolism.Thus,it offers new delivery system for drugs,for different conditions.Nausea one of the conditions which can occur acutely or with a very short warning. Thus, the patient requires not only fast onset of action, but also a product that can be taken anywhere without too much difficulty. A Medicated chewing gum formulation addresses these concerns perfectly.So, our focus was to formulate medicated chewing gum for nausea.
