Description
Maritime Structures: Analysis, Design, and Construction examines the intersection of structural form, analysis, and design with recent updates on these perspectives. Written for a wide spectrum of readers, the book presents fundamental learning materials for graduate students, researchers, and practicing professionals. It emphasizes three main principles: basics, applications, and recent advancements, and discusses how they influence the design, construction, and maintenance of maritime structures. It blends physical analogy with engineering design and encourages interdisciplinary thinking.
Includes end-of-chapter problems and a solutions manual for adopting instructors.
Promotes a shift from traditional math-intensive instruction to simple, classroom-style explanations for maritime structures.
Presents a unique combination of theory, application, and updated design philosophy.

Gaurav Srivastava is the Professor and Head of the Dept. Civil Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar. He is also honored with one of the prestigious Dr. Vilas Majumdhar Chair Professor of IIT Gandhinagar. His main research interests lie in the areas of structural fire engineering, and mechanics of materials for innovative geometric forms of structures. Particularly, efficient analysis of structures under fire enables more comprehensive performance-based design procedures and assessment of building facade systems in fire conditions. He is also interested in developing analytical and algorithmic tools for solving structural dynamics and uncertainty quantification problems. He is a member of many professional societies and also active structural consultant. More details can be seen at https://iitgn.ac.in/faculty/civil/fac-gaurav.
Amit Prashant is a Professor of Civil Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar. His main research interests lie in the areas of constitutive modeling for granular materials, numerical modeling of geotechnical structures, earthquake geotechnical engineering, and applications of geosynthetics in sub-structures and slope stabilization. He is a member of many professional societies and also an active geotechnical consultant. More details can be seen at https://iitgn.ac.in/faculty/civil/fac-amit.
