Description
Preface
The eighth event of the international workshop on Case-Based Reasoning, CBR-MD (http://www.data-mining-forum.de/w_casebased.php), was held in Hamburg in con-nection with the industrial conference on Data Mining, ICDM (www.data-mining-forum.de) running under the umbrella of the World Congress on The Frontiers in Intelligent Data and Signal Analysis, DSA 2015 (www.worldcongressdsa.com).
After the peer-review process, we accepted three high-quality papers for oral pres-entation. The acceptance rate was 35%. Highly qualified papers are published in these proceedings. The topics range from theoretical aspects on retrieval taking into account ontologies, new similarity measures for signal sequences and time series applied to spectrometer signals and the evaluation of Open Access CBR Tools. Extended versions of selected papers will appear in the International Journal Transactions on Case-Based Reasoning (www.ibai-publishing.org/journal/cbr).
We thank the members of the Institute of Applied Computer Sciences, Leipzig, Germany (www.ibai-institut.de), who handled the workshop as secretariat.
Last, but not least, we wish to thank all the speakers and participants who contributed to the success of this workshop. We hope to see you in 2016 in New York at the next international workshop on Case-Based Reasoning, CBR-MD.
The workshop is running in connection with the World Congress "The Frontiers in Intelligent Data and Signal Analysis, DSA 2016" (www.worldcongressdsa.com) that combines under its roof the following three events: International Conferences Ma-chine Learning and Data Mining MLDM, the Industrial Conference on Data Mining ICDM, and the International Conference on Mass Data Analysis of Signals and Images in Medicine, Biotechnology, Chemistry and Food Industry MDA.
