Lennon is hungry. Hungrier than she has ever been before. But it isn't just her family who is struggling. It seems like everyone in her beloved Ireland is hungry. Her family's potato crops have failed again, and her da and brothers have left home in search of work. Now, 12-year-old Lennon and her mam are all alone, struggling to provide rent and basic necessities. After tragic news reaches them, Lennon and her mam have no choice but to leave Ireland and brave the long journey across the Atlantic Ocean, surrounded by strangers, to get to America in hopes of a better life. As the ship sails into the unknown, Lennon leaves behind everything she's ever known and must learn to navigate the turbulent waters of a new life, one filled with disease, death, and unexpected kindness.
