J.L. Callison was an early reader, reading the Humpty Dumpty magazine by himself even before he attended kindergarten. By the end of the third grade, he was reading on an eighth grade level and had read volumes A-H of the World Book Encyclopedia. He has a personal library of well over two thousand books and has read nearly all of them, some multiple times.
Callison came to writing later in life, fulfilling a life-long ambition. His first novel Stranded at Romson's Lodge (Morgan James Publishing, 2016), was followed by a novelette, My Donkey and the Master (self, 2017), and a novella, Rotund Roland (self, 2018). His flash-fiction, "Danlions for Memorial Day," was selected for an anthology by Clarendon House Publishing (Yorkshire UK) in 2018. He has also written articles for magazines and blogs both in the US and in the UK.
