Lonnie Budro was born and raised in an area known as "The Big Thicket" in Southeast Texas. He was born in Liberty in the mid 1960s and grew up in the nearby towns of Batson and Saratoga, where he attended and graduated from West Hardin ISD. Lonnie discovered a natural gift of writing poetry much later in life after the death of his father in 2007. He has currently written over 300 poems, recorded several songs, and is in the process of publishing some of his favorite work, including children's books - now that he has become a grandfather.
