Twins, Zane and Finola are not from Earth. They have arrived here from the planet Sevent and are on a mission to find their father, who has left clues for them to find him. They have many alien skills, they can teleport, although that doesn't always work out the way they planned, and they also receive picture clues from their dad through their thoughts. On the hunt for the twins is Steven Cartwright, the Chief Executive of Assist Neural Technology (ANT). Their dad has warned them about Steven through one of his messages and they know that he can't be trusted. Living with their mother, they are trying to learn how to blend in and act like humans and most importantly, not be discovered. It's tricky trying to unravel how humans interact with each other and to decipher how they show their emotions in so many different ways.
When another message arrives from their dad, Zane and Finola find themselves at a castle, something they have never seen before, and they get involved in a family treasure hunt around the castle and its grounds. They meet Sylvie, a girl who helps them with the treasure hunt and they become friends. Surprisingly, there are also clues to finding their dad hidden within the hunt, as well as some unexpected teleporting!
This is the second instalment in the series about Zane and Finola, and Ann Bryant has written a delightful story about the twins' quest to find their dad. It is also a story about the how difficult it can be trying to navigate human emotions and cultures that are very different from their own.
On the final pages there is an ingenious crossword and wordsearch, with clues to be found throughout the book. A brilliant idea! -- Michelle Briscombe @ www.gwales.com
