The author: Lisa Bruce is the author of young fiction, fiction and picture books for children,. As an ex-librarian she know exactly what children respond to. The inspiration for this picture book was from the Indian rhyme 'Engine engine number nine steaming down the Bombay line' which inspired Lisa to expand on this to make a 1-10 counting book. She has one son and lives in Carnforth, Lancashire. She has written one other picture book for Bloomsbury, Fran's Flower and a series of young fiction phonic readers, called Pix and Pax. The illustrator: This is Stephen Waterhouse's first picture book for Bloomsbury. He is a talented newcomer to children's illustration. Stephen lives in Bradford, Yorkshire.
