Stephen James Meredith Brown (1881-1962) was a Jesuit priest, bibliographer, and librarian. He was ordained as a Jesuit priest in 1914. Interested in producing firstly Irish and later catholic bibliographies, he earned an international reputation as a bibliographer. He founded the Central Catholic Library in 1922, he is remembered today as a major bibliographer of Irish literature.
