Description
Hinde Street Methodist Church in the West End of London is one of the foremost and much-loved churches in English Methodist history. "West End Methodism" celebrates the 200 year anniversary of the chapel at Hinde Street and the 250th anniversary of the Society which came to reside at Hinde Street. Former ministers include well known names like Jabez Bunting, Donald Soper and Leslie Griffiths. Hinde Street's work among children, students and young adults is of particular interest. Its Sunday School was the first in Marylebone, and the story of Methsoc, the University of London Methodist Society, reflects one of the great achievements of post-War Methodism. Documentary sources are supplemented and enlivened by the written accounts received from over a hundred current and former members who have fond memories of their time at Hinde Street.
