Knowledge and sex are sometimes thought of as related to one another at a fundamental level - the verb "to know" can refer to sexual intercourse, and "knowledge of the world" often means sexual experience. This book is about that relationship - sex and knowledge and how literature can inform us of the world beyond that which we can experience or discover for ourselves.
