Reviews / Votes
A prolific writer-illustrator of board books, Boynton has taken the lyrics of her song "When Pigs Fly," created for her country music album Frog Trouble (2013), as the text of her latest book. Rooted in fantasy, a pig's dream of flight becomes a reality, celebrated in illustrations that feature small flocks of airborne pigs who are clearly delighted that their long-range, seemingly impossible dreams of flying have come true. The inspiring text works well as a launching pad for this beautiful board book. Written from the viewpoint of a parent singing a song of affirmation, admiration, and love to a baby or toddler, the empowering words provide the narrative, while the buoyant illustrations are sure to enchant dreamers of all ages. -- Booklist Starred Review * November 2025 * "Boynton's signature high jinks shine in this playful paean to perseverance and imagination. A piglet dares to dream big (very big!), and laughter, determination, and sweetness follow. Warm, cheerful -illustrations pair with gentle encouragement in this aspirational board book, creating an ideal snuggle-time read for young dreamers and their grown-ups. VERDICT A cozy, classic addition perfect for inspiring big dreams in small readers." -- School Library JournalMore details

More than 90 million of her books have been sold, "mostly to friends and family," she says. She has also written (with Michael Ford) and produced seven albums of renegade children's music. Three of her seven albums have been certified Gold (over 500,000 copies sold) and Philadelphia Chickens, nominated for a Grammy, has been certified Platinum (over 1 million copies sold). Boynton has also directed many music videos of her songs, including the award-winning "One Shoe Blues" starring B.B. She lives in rural New England, and her studio is in a barn with perhaps the only hippopotamus weathervane in America.
