Erica Bowers, Ed.D., is a professor in the department of Literacy and Reading Education at California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) and is the Director of Faculty Development and Academic Technology. Erica previously served as Director of the CSUF Reading Center, guiding graduate students in their work with striving readers. She has coauthored numerous articles focusing on academic English, literacy coaching, literacy assessment, and reading motivation. Erica is the author of What the Science of Reading Says: Literacy Strategies for Grades 1-2 and the coauthor of Building Academic Language Through Content-Area Text. She is a former elementary school teacher and reading specialist.
