Always Ready

The U.S. Coast Guard's motto, Semper Paratus, translates to "Always Ready," which is the code by which thousands of men and women have lived and died. The U.S. Coast Guard conducts maritime security, safety, homeland security, military duties in time of war, ice operations, and many other duties that sometimes go unnoticed. In an average day, there are 109 search and rescue missions and 10 lives are saved. This book covers a brief history of the branch of service, provides information of the various duties, and discusses how the U.S. Coast Guard has changed since September 11, 2001. The foreword is written by Commandant Tom Collins, the head of the U.S. Coast Guard.
