Ranjit Bolt was born in Manchester and studied classics at Balliol, Oxford. Writing plays in verse at night for years, he turned it into his day job after his first success - directed by Jonathan Miller. He was awarded an OBE in 2003 and has worked with many star actors, including Judy Dench, Felicity Kendall, Derek Jacobi and Martin Clunes. He currently divides his time between North London and Cambridge.
