Hans-Peter Blume is emeritus Professor of Soil Science at the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel (Germany). In the course of his long academic career, he held appointments at the Universities of Hohenheim and Berlin before moving to Kiel. His scientific accomplishments include studies of soil formation and soil ecology in urban areas as well as in desert areas of Africa and Antarctica. Since 2006, he is an honorary member of the International Union of Soil Sciences, IUSS.
Rainer Horn directs the Institute of Plant Nutrition and Soil Science at the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel (Germany). He is a past president of the German Soil Science Society, the International Soil Tillage Research Organisation and at present the president of the International Union of Soil Sciences, IUSS. His research focuses on soil mechanics and soil tillage effects.
Soeren Thiele-Bruhn is professor of Soil Science at the University of Trier (Germany). Prior to his appointment in Trier, he was a researcher at the University of Rostock and at the Pennsylvania State University. His research focuses on soil contamination by xenobiotics, especially antibiotics. He is past chairman of the commission II ?Soil Chemistry? of the German Soil Science Society and member of the DIN/ISO standardization committee for soil biological methods.
