Description
This book describes and evaluates the work of Phase 2 of the Principles into Practice (PiP) project. The project aimed to promote the professional development of all kinds of practitioners working with children under eight, and to explore the effectiveness of an action research approach.
Many valuable insights were gained into the highs and lows of the action research approach, and especially about the most effective ways of supporting practitioners' professional development, through guiding them into productive paths of self-reflection. The book sets out these lessons to help others wishing to pursue this route to professional development, or as mentors, to help others to do so.
Action Research for Professional Development includes examples of training packs for continuing professional development, and helpful guidance notes for mentors, based on work with practitioners.
This book is the companion volume to Principles into Practice in Early Childhood Education (Paul Chapman Publishing) which outlined the work of Phase 1 of the PiP project.
