The Long Distance Walker's Handbook

This book lists over 340 long distance walks (varying from 20 to over 500 miles in length) throughout the United Kingdom that have some kind of waymarking or written guide. As well as giving an outline of the route, every entry describes start and finish points (with grid references), relevant Ordnance Survey maps, waymarks, links with other paths and helpful publications. Ideal for planning day trips, weekend breaks and walking holidays, this handbook is a comprehensive guide to long distance paths available. Barbara Blatchford and her late husband Alan were founder members of the Long Distance Walkers' Association (LDWA).
