Description
The model of the Future University presented in this book is one stemming from a Corporate, Virtual and Global discourse. Each of these themes is examined and modelled in detail before the implications are drawn out for the future student and future academic. Futures methodology is employed to make the case for change, and the discourses are mapped in terms of dominant discourses, emerging discourses and a preferred, normative futures discourse. The book questions the concept of the ''idea'' of a university, and also asks the question ''better for whom'' when considering a normative future discourse.
