Description
This collection of essays was published on the occasion of the seventieth birthday of Danish painter, sculptor, author, filmmaker, and architect Per Kirkeby. For over thirty years, Siegfried Gohr, former director of a number of museums and currently professor at the Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf, has intensely examined Kirkeby's multifaceted oeuvre. Gohr became acquainted with the artist and his works in the seventies, and in 1987 he organized a retrospective of Kirkeby's work at Cologne's Ludwig Museum. This volume assembles eleven of Gohr's insightful texts on the artist's painterly, sculptural, and architectural work. (German edition ISBN 978-3-7757-2320-6)Per Kirkeby (* 1938 in Copenhagen).
