Description
This is an introduction to parents and caregivers to over 400 books and 400 poems arranged in 60 book-sharing activities. Parents are provided with more than a year's worth of books and poems to use with children! Each activity features one outstanding children's book and presents parents with strategies for guiding their children through the book in ways that promote enjoyment and learning. In addition to the featured book there are six additional books and seven poems recommended (in essence, a week's worth of reading). These all center around a theme associated with the featured book; for example, when "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs" is introduced, the following poems are about food and/or the weather. This book is truly a handbook, designed to give parents and their children success with formal reading instruction.

I am a speech/language pathologist in New Jersey and discovered your wonderful book ... It has become my "Bible" for parents of children with speech and language deficits and possible reading difficulties. This book has given me great ideas. I am in private practice and my clients' parents are all educated. However, most of them have no idea how reading and other everyday environmental situations can result in better language skills.
