Description
In this book, the reinforced concrete building with soft ground floor is modelled for the seismic simulation. Response spectrum method based on modal combination is adopted for the mathematical modelling. The response spectrum method is encountered under the bureaus of Indian Standard provisions. Seven soft storey modification (improvement) techniques are proposed and corresponding seismic responses are evaluated. A comparative analysis along with a statistical screening is adopted to find best suited technique for building structure. The investigation finally yields a design chart, which will guide the architects to select the soft ground floor modified techniques for multi-storeyed buildings in earthquake prone zones.
