Dr. Joseph R. Bertino is the Associate Director of the Cancer Institute of New Jersey, at the Robert Wood Johnson School of Medicine in New Brunswick, and a distinguished Professor of Medicine and Pharmacology in the UMDNJ system. Prior to assuming this position in January 2002, Dr. Bertino served as Chairman of the Molecular Pharmacology and Therapeutics Program at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York (1986-2002). He has also been an American Cancer Society Professor since 1976.Dr. Bertino is an active reseacher and has received several awards and honors for his accomplishments, including the Rosenthal Award from the American Association of Clinical Research, the Karnofsky Award from the American Society for Clinical Oncology, and the American Cancer Society Medal of Honor. He is also a past president of both the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Association for Cancer Research.
