Reviews / Votes
"Our entire faculty is pleased with the previous edition, and we have already agreed to adopt the new one upon release. The examples bring home the realities of actual social work practice (What exactly do social workers DO? is a question we often get in Intro). Keep up the good work."-Beth Walker, Western New Mexico University"Berg-Weger does an excellent job of unpacking complicated concepts of social welfare by intertwining them with social work practice. The author utilizes the voices of social work practitioners to explain the challenges, the joys, and the variety inherent in the profession of social work."-Carla Mueller, Lindenwood University
"Students exploring social work will benefit from this comprehensive and highly engaging text. The portrayals of one worker's multi-faceted experiences highlight social work values, roles, skills, and knowledge base. The author skillfully describes the history and context of social work and social welfare and the opportunities and challenges for tomorrow's social workers."-Joy Ernst, Hood College
