The Baptism of Power

What would you do with the power to do anything? Maxine Russet had her entire life planned out. In only a few months, she'd be out of high school, out of her abusive mother's house, out of the ghetto, and into the hallowed halls of higher education. Her hard work and dedication are rewarded when she chances upon a diamond ring lost in a storm drain. The ring could easily finance a much-needed car, but instead her hopes are shattered by more than she ever bargained for. It soon has her hearing the thoughts and feelings of those around her, moving objects with her mind, and even flying off rooftops. But her newfound abilities also mean she is hunted by the NYPD, the FBI, a powerful ancient order that rules from the shadows, and most deadly of all, a pair of mercenaries from the future called the Rogue Wolves.
