Person
Jade Beer is an award-winning editor, journalist, and novelist who has worked across the UK national press for more than twenty years. Most recently, she was the editor in chief of Conde Nast's Brides. She also writes for other leading titles, including the Sunday Times Style, The Telegraph, Glamour, Stella magazine, and is one of the Mail on Sunday's regular fiction and nonfiction book reviewers. Jade splits her time between London and the Cotswolds, where she lives with her husband and two daughters.
The idea for This is Not A Book About Cancer was sparked by Jade's own endometrial cancer diagnosis in January 2026, something she found deeply shocking and traumatic.
What struck Jade when she was going through the process was that while the medical situation felt largely out of control, her ability to 'deal' with it all was not. Jade spent days crying after this diagnosis, she couldn't look at my children or be left on my own. Jade desperately needed someone to tell her how to cope with it.
Out of this experience came an idea for a book with a working title, What Women With Cancer Can Teach All Women. This sentiment is shared by all the women interviewed for this project so far whose stories are strong, uplifting, genuinely joyful and packed with advice on how to live a happier life.
