Description
This is a book for headteachers and other senior staff in schools. It offers advice on how to form and maintain positive, professional relationships with governors. It is particularly concerned with the new methods of working demanded by the 1986 and 1988 Education Acts, and is based on research carried out in conjunction with headteachers. The book stresses the teamwork essential to the successful management of a school, within which the headteacher-governor relationship is becoming increasingly important. The text explains and puts the role of governor into context, and at the end of each chapter provides practical hints for immediate action.
