Die Festschrift für Bernhard Hänsel zum 60. Geburtstag enthält neben einer Widmung und einem Geleitwort [H. Hauptmann] ein Schriftenverzeichnis des Geehrten sowie eine Liste aller akademischer Abschlußarbeiten, die von ihm betreut wurden. 64 Beiträge von Gelehrten aus ganz Europa umspannen einen zeitlichen Rahmen, der vom Neolithikum bis zur Neuzeit reicht, wobei der Schwerpunkt gemäß den Interessen des Jubilars in der Bronzezeit liegt [Neolithikum 10 Beiträge, Bronzezeit 38, Eisenzeit 13, Römische Kaiserzeit 5, Mittelalter 3, Neuzeit 1]. Thematisch werden Besiedlung [4 Beiträge], Kulturgeschichte [17], Horte [4], Gräber [8], Keramik [7], sonstige Kleinfunde, darunter Waffen, Trachtzubehör, Schmuck, Kultgerät und Alltagsgegenstände [19], technische Fragen [2] aber auch Paläoanatomie und Paläobotanik [3] behandelt. Immer wieder spielen dabei Kulturkontakte zwischen Mitteleuropa und dem Südosten eine Rolle. Die untersuchten Regionen reichen von Spanien bis zum Aral-See und Indien sowie von der Ägäis bis nach Dänemark, wobei Schriftquellen ebenso wie archäologische Zeugnisse herangezogen werden.
The volume in honour of Bernhard Hänsel for his 60th birthday contains a dedication, an introduction [H. Hauptmann], a list of all publications the honoured has written up to the present day and a list of all academic theses written by his students under his guidance. 64 Contributions by scholars from all over Europe cover subjects from the Neolithic until modern times. An emphasis is laid on the Bronze Age, one of the main fields of interest of the honoured himself [Neolithic 10 papers, Bronze Age 38, Iron Age 13, Roman Period 5, Middle Ages 3, modern times 1]. The topics include settlements [4 articles], cultural history [17], hoards [4], graves [8], pottery [7], other small finds, amongst them weapons, dress ornaments, jewellery, ritual objects and implements of everyday use [19], matters of technology [2] and also palaeo-anatomy and palaeo-botany [3]. In many cases the authors focus on the relations between Central Europe and South-Eastern European regions. The areas touched upon stretch from Spain to Lake Aral and India and from the Aegean Sea to Denmark. Written sources are included in the investigations as well as the archaeological evidence.
