Description
"Cytoskeleton in Development" is composed of essays on three topics in early development: egg activation, gastrulation, and terminal differentiation. Each essay describes the contributions of actin, tubulin, and their associated proteins to developmentally significant events in embryos of various species: sea urchin, "drosophila", frog, and chick. This volume brings together knowledge of the cytoskeleton with knowledge of embryology to reveal the contributions of cytoskeletal proteins. It reviews relation of cell structure to positional cue localization in the egg; cytoskeletal contributions to cell shape changes in early morphogenesis; and elaboration of tissue-specific structures during terminal differentiation.
