David Bawden is Professor of Information Science at City University London, editor of Journal of Documentation, and a council member of Aslib. He is author of over 150 books, chapters, papers and published presentations.
Lyn Robinson is Senior Lecturer in Information Science, and Director of the Postgraduate Information Studies Scheme, at City University London. She is author of numerous papers and published presentations, and has written two books, including Facet's Understanding Healthcare Information.
Dr Alison Jane Pickard is Head of Information and Communication Management and Director of Quality and Student Experience in the School of Computing, Engineering and Information Sciences at the University of Northumbria, where she is also Programme Leader for the new Professional Doctorate in Information Sciences. She teaches Research Methods in Information and Communication Management, Information Sciences, as well as other subject areas, and has project managed a number of JISC and AHRB research projects.
Karen Calhoun B.A., M.S., M.B.A. is an internationally respected librarian and change leader who is currently at the University of Pittsburgh helping to develop community-centred services. She is an active researcher, writer, speaker and consultant on digital libraries and related disciplines and has just completed a celebrated tenure at OCLC.
Philip Hider is Head of the School of Information Studies and Professor of Library and Information Management at Charles Sturt University, Australia. He has worked, taught and researched in the field of information organization in the UK, Singapore and Australia. He holds a PhD from City University, London and was made a Fellow of CILIP in 2004.
Nigel Ford is Professor of Information Science at Sheffield University, and is currently Deputy Director of the Information School's Centre for Information Literacy Research. He has taught information behaviour at undergraduate and Masters level for 30 years and is a leading researcher in the field, with an extensive publication record spanning journals and books.
Professor Gobinda Chowdhury BSc Hons, MSc, PhD, FCLIP is Professor in Information Science at iSchool@northumbria, and Head of the Department of Mathematics and Information Sciences at Northumbria University. Before joining Northumbria University he was a Professor and Director of the Centre for Information and Knowledge Management at the University of Technology Sydney, Australia. For over 25 years he has worked as an academic and researcher in information science in different parts of the world including Asia, Africa, Europe and Australia. For the past few years he has been actively involved in the iSchools activities. Professor Chowdhury has written or edited 15 books and over 150 research papers.
G. Edward Evans is an administrator, researcher, teacher, and writer. He holds several graduate degrees in anthropology and library and information science. As a researcher he has published in both fields, and held a Fulbright (librarianship) and National Science Foundation (anthropology) Fellowship. His teaching experience has also been in both fields in the U.S. and the Nordic countries. Most of his administrative experience has been in private academic libraries--Harvard and Loyola Marymount Universities. He retired from full-time work as Associate Academic Vice president for Libraries and Information Resources. Author of numerous books, he consults for and volunteers at the Museum of Northern Arizona library and archives and Flagstaff City, Coconino Country Library System.
Camila Alire is Dean Emeritus at the University of New Mexico and Colorado State University. She is Past-President of the ALA, ALA/APA, the Association for College and Research Libraries (ACRL), and also REFORMA, the National Association to Promote Library and Information Services to the Spanish-speaking. She has co-authored books on library service to Latino communities and disaster planning and recovery. She was the first recipient of ALA's Elizabeth Futas Catalyst for Change Award and was named one year by Hispanic Business Magazine as one of the 100 most influential Hispanics in the United States.
Peggy Johnson is a frequent speaker and trainer on collection development and management. She has published several books, including ALA Edition's Developing and Managing Electronic Collections: The Essentials?, and numerous journal articles. She edited the peer-reviewed journal, Library Resources & Technical Services, for more than nine years, ending her term in December 2012, and continues to edit the journal, Technicalities: Information Forum for the Technical Services Professional. Prior to retiring from the University of Minnesota Libraries, she served as Associate University Librarian. Peggy is past president of the Association for Library Collections and Technical Services (ALCTS) and received the ALCTS Ross Atkinson Lifetime Achievement Award in 2009. She has consulted on library development in Morocco, Rwanda, Uganda, Senegal, and China, and on technical services and collection development and management in the U.S. Peggy teaches library management as an adjunct professor in the St. Catherine University MLIS program. She is a graduate of St. Olaf College and has a Masters from the University of Chicago Graduate Library School and a Masters of Management and Administration from Metropolitan State University.
Kay Ann Cassell received her BA from Carnegie Mellon University, her MLS from Rutgers University, and her PhD from the International University for Graduate Studies. She has worked in academic libraries and public libraries as a reference librarian and as a library director. Ms. Cassell is a past president of Reference and User Services Association of ALA and is active on ALA and RUSA committees. She is the editor of the journal Collection Building and is the author of numerous articles and books on collection development and reference service. She was formerly the Associate Director of Collections and Services for the Branch Libraries of the New York Public Library where she was in charge of collection development and age-level services for the Branch Libraries. She is now a Lecturer and Director of the MLIS Program in the School of Communication, Information and Library Studies at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey.
Uma Hiremath is Executive Director at the Ames Free Library, Massachusetts. She was Assistant Director at the Thayer Public Library, Massachusetts; Head of Reference at the West Orange Public Library, New Jersey; and Supervising Librarian at the New York Public Library where she worked for five years. She received her MLS from Pratt Institute, New York, and her PhD in political science at the University of Pittsburgh.
John Feather BLitt MA PhD FCLIP is Professor of Library and Information Studies and Dean of the Graduate School at Loughborough University; he is a former Pro-Vice Chancellor of Loughborough University.
David Haynes PhD MBCS FCLIP conducts research into Privacy and Metadata at the Department of Library and Information Science at City, University of London. He is also an Honorary Tutor at the Centre for Archives and Information Studies (CAIS) at the University of Dundee where he specialises in Metadata and Taxonomies. He has been involved in library and information consultancy and research for more than 35 years during which time he has worked on information retrieval, information policy and information governance issues, latterly specialising in privacy and data protection. He is Chair of the UK Chapter of ISKO, the International Society for Knowledge Organization.
