Anaerobic Digestion Model No 1

Selected papers from the 1st International Workshop on the IWA Anaerobic Digestion Model No.1 (ADM1), held in Lyngby, Copenhagen, Denmark, September 4-6 2005. The areas of applications and extensions presented here are extremely diverse, ranging from pragmatic analysis of standardized systems by industrial engineers and integration with larger projects, to detailed analysis of competition between known microbial populations by microbiologists. Some key grey areas originally identified by the IWA Task Group as incomplete - such as glucose fermentation - are also addressed in considerable detail. The papers presented here embody high-level applications of ADM1 and offer real developments to its users, and this issue therefore forms both a valuable companion volume the to STR and a collection of original, exciting research in its own right.
