Description
Gertrud Dübi-Müller (1888-1980) was one of
Switzerland's most important art collectors as
well as a passionate photographer, mountaineer,
motorist and model for artists including Ferdinand
Hodler. This publication presents works from her
outstanding collection as well as her own photo
graphs, offering insights into her fascinating,
independent life.
Dübi-Müller was exceptionally well connected within
Swiss and international artistic circles, and she
collected works by Cézanne, van Gogh and Klimt,
as well as Cuno Amiet and Ferdinand Hodler. As a
photographer, she documented the lives of artist
friends as well as her own experiences, including
journeys across Europe and as far as North Africa.
Whether mountaineering, motor racing or collecting
art, Gertrud Dübi-Müller refused to be constrained
by gender stereotypes and lived with remarkable
independence for a woman of her time
