Description
The Open Learning Programme is a distance learning package for those working towards the BPS Certificate of Competence in Occupational Testing (Level A). This revised and updated edition includes all the necessary materials and information to prepare the user for 'Level A' assessment.
The programme comprises seven separate modules (three of which are in two parts), together with a Test Pack, Introductory Maths Pack, Glossary, a student's Assessment Portfolio and a Supplement of Test Reviews. Extensive use is made of examples, practical exercises, case study material and self-assessment questions.
The cost of the programme does not include the assessment fee which is arranged separately. The assessment needs to be carried out by a BPS approved assessor. Professor David Bartram is Research Director for SHL Group plc. Prior to his appointment with SHL in 1998, he was Dean of the Faculty of Science and the Environment, and Professor of Psychology in the Department of Psychology at the University of Hull. He is Chair of the British Psychological Society's Steering Committee on Test Standards and Chair of the European Federation of Psychologists' Associations Standing Committee on Tests and Testing. In 2004 he received the BPS award for Distinguished Contributions to Professional Psychology for his work in developing the Society's services in the area of tests and test use. Dave is a Past-President of the International Test Commission and is heading ITC projects on international guidelines for standards in test use and standards for computer-based testing and the Internet.
Dr Patricia A. Lindley is a Chartered Occupational Psychologist and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society. She has recently retired as Director of Newland Park Associates and is an Honorary Senior Fellow in Psychology at the University of Hull. She is Chair of the Board of Examiners in Occupational Psychology, Deputy Chair of the BPS Steering Committee on Test Standards, a member of the EFPA Standing Committee for Testing and Senior Editor of the Review of Tests for the BPS Psychological Testing Centre. Her main area of expertise centres on assessment methods and practices and the development of methods for evaluating their quality. She has written a range of technical reports and is co-author of the BPS Level A Open Learning Programme.
