Description
This study investigated the relationship between two different modes of discourse, narrative and expository, and the influence of two consecutive patterns on reading ability. To run this study the students' reading ability was examined in a longitudinal study of two groups from second-grade students in high school exposed to six reading tests. Group A with twenty subjects began their exam with three narrative tests and ended to three expository ones. Conversely, group B began with three expository tests and ended to three narrative ones. The analyses of data have been made using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficient and independent-samples T-Test. The findings confirm significant relationship between two modes of discourse in total score. (r =0.56 P=0.0001). It is also showed significant difference between two groups (T=3.02 P=0.0005)
