Description
Over the years, various Web application development approaches (WADAs) have been proposed with diverse development processes. However, these approaches focus more on design aspects instead of complete development cycle, specifically, on requirement engineering and related business modelling activities. This makes their development processes disintegrated causing delays and inaccuracies, while capturing and transforming rapidly changing business requirements into the system designs. Hence this research work contributes towards solving the problem of delays and inaccuracies while translating or assessing the effect of changing business requirements on Web applications supporting that business. Towards the solution, this research introduces a novel 'VIP business modelling framework' comprising three orthogonal models: (1) Business Value Model (BVM), (2) Business Information Model (BIM) and (3) Business Process Model (BPM). All the three models are specified through respective metamodels and lightweight UML 2 profiles. The framework proposes a methodology to systematically 'Develop' as well as 'Integrate' VIP Business Models to four influential WADAs, namely, OO-H, OOHDM, UWE & WebML
